Kick Starting Manufacturing

WWL is a small Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise set up to manufacture unique laminated materials for the clothing and roofing industry.   Business was successful, but production was not going as per the original business plans and an Interim General Manager was required to get things on the right track.

Within two hours of his arrival at the factory Colin Upton had made an assessment of the existing staff and began his recovery plan.  With full consent of the owner the entire factory was audited and a new business plan formulated to ensure a successful future for the enterprise.

Colin was left in charge for six weeks whilst the owner searched for his permanent replacement—a difficult task in the Chinese Market place.  Production was turned around from a few meters to tens of thousands of meters per day .  Production and support staff were interviewed and hired (with the help of Colin’s Chinese wife!), Warehousing planned and implemented, machines and processes fixed, new staff trained, 5S Training started.

Business Owner Tim was heard to say ‘I can’t believe the depth of knowledge this man has in so many different areas’
